NASCAR: Darlington Preview

It’s throwback weekend! NASCAR heads to Darlington, SC for the Goodyear 400 which has been marked as the weekend to pay homage to NASCAR’s most iconic paint schemes, as well as drivers.

While there’s still a solid handful of cars that decided not to opt into the throwback festivities, there are still many that did.

William Byron starts on the pole in his throwback to Jeff Gordon’s 2015 Homestead finale racecar, as he looks to score his second victory of the season after his big Daytona 500 win. Byron came close years ago until Joey Logano got into the back of him in the closing laps.

Ryan Preece starts second, continuing his amazing success run recently. Preece has continued to rifle off top 10’s and now sits in a prominent position to do the same thing once again, as well as even contend for the win in his No. 60 RFK Racing Ford.

Martinsville winner Denny Hamlin starts third alongside his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe, who got the Southern 500 victory last time we were in Darlington to lock himself into the 2024 Playoffs.

Bubba Wallace and Austin Cindric start fifth and sixth respectively, both drivers who continue to qualify well but look to finally finish the deal. Tyler Reddick, Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney, and Michael McDowell round out the top ten starters.

Other drivers to watch include both RFK Racing teammates Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski, who fought for the win here just a year ago.

Kyle Larson, a former Southern 500 winner, is also one to watch, but starts 21st.
